Become a Rescue Diver!

The PADI Rescue Diver course is probably one of the most fun, exciting and rewarding PADI Course out there!

The PADI Rescue Diver course will broaden your diving knowledge and experience. Rescue Divers look beyond themselves and consider other divers safety. This 2 to 3 day course will train you for prevention and management of diving accidents with over 10 different Rescue Exercises and 2 Rescue Scenarios. The PADI Rescue Diver course is considered the stepping stone of a career in diving leading into the Divemaster and Instructor courses.

PADI RESCUE DIVER PREREQUISITES

To start the Rescue Diver course you need to be at least 12 years old. You need to be certified as an Advanced Open Water Diver or an Adventure Diver with the Underwater Navigator adventure dive. You must also have valid CPR and First Aid Training within the past 24 months. Bring your certification card as proof, if you do not have this, you will need to take the Emergency First Response Course which will teach you primary and secondary care in preparation for your Rescue Diver course.

All PADI courses and programs require you to answer a medical questionnaire. Please take a look at the PADI Medical Participant Questionnaire to find out if you should be examined by your Doctor before participating in Recreational Scuba Diving.

What is involved?

You’ll practice problem-solving and the most effective strategies for problem management. You will learn where useful equipment is located on the boat including various flotation devices, emergency oxygen, and medical supplies and how to use them. You’ll learn how to manage and be a team player during full rescue scenarios including doing search patterns to locate a missing diver and surfacing an unconscious diver. Other topics you’ll cover include:

  • Self Rescue

  • Recognizing and managing stress in other divers

  • Rescuing panicked divers

RESCUE DIVER COURSE SCHEDULE

DAY 1

Starting: 8:00 - 11:00 am or 13:00 - 16:00 pm

Classroom - Your Instructor will review the knowledge reviews you completed and explain anything not fully understood.

Then you’ll spend the morning or afternoon out for the confined water session. In shallow water close to one of our pristine beaches you’ll learn and practice important rescue skills. You will then have an opportunity to repeat the skill, practice and perfect it until you have mastered the skill.

DAY 2 - 3

Choose your time: 7:00 - 12:30 pm or 13:00 - 17:30 pm

Spend the morning or afternoon out on the boat for open water dive training sessions to complete all the rescue skills.

EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONSE COURSE (EFR)

The EFR Course is designed to be finished within a single day. It starts with familiarizing yourself with the EFR Course book and watching an instructional video. Following this, you will engage with your instructor to learn the essential steps for accident management. These steps encompass scene assessment, contacting EMS, checking for vital signs such as breathing, circulation, serious bleeding, spinal injuries, and shock, as well as administering secondary care. Once you've confidently mastered the practical skills, you'll conclude the course with a final written exam.

Participants who complete the EFR course will receive an EFR certification card, which is valid for two years. This certification demonstrates proficiency in basic first aid, CPR, and emergency care skills.

  • The course includes online elearning, the certification processing fee (PIC), an instructor, all necessary equipment, basic insurance, lunch, water, coffee, tea, and fruits.

    Excludes the Phi Phi National Park fee of 600 Thai Baht for the day you do rescue dives 1+2 and another 200 Thai Baht for the day you do rescue dives 3+4.

  • It's recommended to practice and review rescue skills regularly to maintain proficiency and confidence. Many dive centers offer refresher courses or practice sessions for certified Rescue Divers to keep their skills sharp.

  • The EFR course is open to anyone, regardless of age or diving certification level. It is suitable for divers and non-divers alike who want to learn basic first aid, CPR, and emergency care skills.

  • No prior medical knowledge or experience is required to enroll in the EFR course. The curriculum is designed to be accessible to individuals with varying levels of experience and backgrounds.
